Women empowerment has been a crucial policy of the government for long since they constitute half of the total population and has boundless potentiality to contribute to the development of the nation. Bangladesh is the champion of women empowerment in south-Asia. The country has made momentous progress since the last few years particularly in the area of women development. However, the concept of empowerment requires clarification since it is sometimes misunderstood. Proper socio-economic development is urgently needed to empower women. And this study also attempts to explore the present perspective of women empowerment programs are taken and run by government and various agencies for women development of Bangladesh and challenges of empowerment and later suggests few recommendations for that. After collecting data, it is found that it needs to take more effective measures for all women; especially for the mainstream women to accelerate national development.
