guidelines
Description about journal
The Journal of Social
Development is a bilingual journal of social sciences of the Institute of
Social Welfare and Research, University of Dhaka. It is published twice a year,
in English in June and in Bangla in December, by the Director (Editor), Institute
of Social Welfare and Research, University of Dhaka.
All correspondences
regarding editorial matters should be directed to The Journal Editor, Institute
of Social Welfare and Research University of Dhaka, Dhaka-1205, Bangladesh (Details
of the institutions https://www.du.ac.bd/body/ISW).
The views and
interpretations in the articles published are those of the authors and do not
necessary represent the views and thoughts to the Editorial Board of the
Journal.
Length of paper
The manuscript should be no longer than 7000 words, A-4
pages, including references, tables, etcetera.
Corresponding Author
One author is
assigned as Corresponding Author and acts on behalf of all co-authors and
ensures that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the
work are appropriately addressed. Authors are recommended to use their ORCID ID when submitting an article for
consideration or acquire an ORCID ID via
the submission process.
Peer Review Procedure
This journal follows a double-blind reviewing procedure.
Author names, affiliations and any other potentially identifying information
should be removed from the manuscript text. A separate Title Page should be
submitted, containing title, author names, affiliations, and the contact
information of the corresponding author. Manuscripts reporting primary research
or secondary analysis of primary research will have at least two referees per
manuscript. Final decisions to accept or reject can be made by the
Editor-in-Chief or an Associate Editor.

Title Page
Should be
included the following issues
- The
name(s) of the author(s)
- The
affiliation(s) of the author(s), i.e. institution, (department), city,
(state), country
- A clear
indication and an active e-mail address of the corresponding author
Abstract
Please provide an abstract of 100 to 150 words. The
abstract should not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified
references.
Keywords
Please provide 5 to 7 keywords which can be used for
indexing purposes.
Main body
Some aspects
have to include for instance Introduction, literature review, objectives,
methodology, findings, discussion, and conclusion.
Statements and Declarations
"Statements and Declarations" and conflict of
interest should be included.
Text Formatting
Manuscripts should be submitted in Word.
- Use a
normal, plain font (e.g., 12-point Times Roman) for text.
- Use
italics for emphasis.
- Use the
automatic page numbering function to number the pages.
- Do not use
field functions.
- Use the
table function, not spreadsheets, to make tables.
- Use the
equation editor or Math Type for equations.
Footnotes
Footnotes can be used to give additional information in
the bottom of page.
Acknowledgments
Acknowledgments of people, grants, funds, etc. should be
placed in a separate section on the title page. The names of funding
organizations should be written in full.
Reference
Authors are encouraged to follow official APA latest
edition (7th) for references,
quotations, and other guidelines.
Tables and figures
- All tables
are to be numbered using Arabic numerals.
- Tables
should always be cited in text in consecutive numerical order.
- For each
table, please supply a table caption (title) explaining the components of
the table.
- Identify
any previously published material by giving the original source in the
form of a reference at the end of the table caption.
Permissions
If you include figures, tables, and other data that have
already been published elsewhere, you must obtain permission from the copyright
owner(s) for both the print and online format
Supplementary Information
It should be
attached in the appendix if necessary.
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Authors should refrain from misrepresenting research
results which could damage the trust in the journal, the professionalism of
scientific authorship, and ultimately the entire scientific endeavour. Authors
must be followed the NASW code of ethics and APA code of ethics.
Plagiarism
The manuscripts must be
plagiarism checked and not more than 20% similarities will not be
accepted.
