Freedom to practice religion is an important dimension of human rights and social well-being. However, women in marginalized and rural communities may experience limitations in exercising religious practices and accessing related opportunities. This study examined the religious status and practices of Muslim women in Sarail Upazila in the context of social reality. The study analyzed their situation from the perspective of Islamic principles and social conditions. A structured questionnaire was developed, and interviews were conducted with people from different occupations living in various villages of the upazila. The study sought to identify the existing situation, challenges, and inconsistencies related to women’s religious practices and explore possible ways of addressing them. The findings highlight the importance of creating an enabling social environment in which women can exercise their religious rights freely and with dignity. Based on the findings, the study presents recommendations for improving women’s opportunities for religious practice while considering both Islamic principles and prevailing social realities.
