Older women constitute a significant proportion of the ageing population because women generally have a higher life expectancy than men. This article reviews the lives of older women by analyzing secondary sources, including research reports, books, academic articles, survey reports, and relevant documents. The review focuses on their health conditions, widowhood, living arrangements, socioeconomic challenges, and feminist perspectives on ageing. The findings indicate that older women face various economic, social, cultural, and family-related barriers that adversely affect their quality of life. Widowhood, economic insecurity, social isolation, health problems, and limited family support are among the important challenges associated with later life. The article argues that ensuring healthy and dignified ageing requires greater attention to the specific needs and vulnerabilities of older women. It proposes several measures to improve their health, socioeconomic security, social participation, and overall well-being. The findings may provide useful directions for researchers, planners, policymakers, and professionals working in the field of ageing and social development.
