Persons with disabilities remain among the marginalized groups in Bangladesh, with many still excluded from formal education. To support disadvantaged children and adolescents with disabilities, the Government of Bangladesh introduced the Disability Education Stipend Programme in the fiscal year 2007–2008. This study examined the programme and its contribution to inclusive education. A mixed-method approach was employed to collect quantitative and qualitative information. The findings indicate that receiving the stipend has contributed to improved educational opportunities, financial security, purchasing capacity, social recognition, and the ability to meet personal needs. However, most respondents considered the stipend amount inadequate in relation to current educational expenses. They recommended increasing the stipend, providing disability allowances to stipend recipients, preventing bribery and nepotism, and simplifying procedures for receiving financial support. The study concludes that strengthening the stipend programme through increased financial support, improved accessibility, and effective administrative mechanisms can contribute significantly to ensuring inclusive education and improving the educational participation of persons with disabilities in Bangladesh.
